La gourde à saké présentée ici est réalisée à partir d’une calebasse séchée. Celle-ci est un attribut courant du samouraï parcourant de grandes distances à travers l’archipel jusqu’à la fin de l’époque Meiji. Elle est traditionnellement attachée à la taille grâce à la cordelette prévue à cet effet, elle est ici accompagnée d’une petite tasse en bois blanc permettant de consommer ce saké.

Cette gourde porte un décor peint calligraphié évoquant le chemin, la pluie et le saké pour la halte du marcheur.

The sake gourd presented here is made from a dried gourd.

This is a common attribute of the samurai who travelled great distances across the archipelago until the end of the Meiji period.

It is traditionally tied at the waist with the cord provided for this purpose, and here it is accompanied by a small white wooden cup for drinking this sake. This gourd bears a calligraphic painted decoration evoking the path, the rain and the sake for the walker's resting place.
